On the 2018-2019 State Report card, the Canfield Local School District is once again the highest in the Tri-County area for performance index scoring 104.5! Last year Canfield scored 104.3. The Performance Index measures the test results of every student at their own ability level.
Alex Geordan, Superintendent says, “These results align with our District Vision which says, ‘We will create an educational environment which challenges each student to achieve at their highest potential, leading to top 10 rankings in Ohio by 2022.’ While these results are exciting, we are going to dissect the information and focus on the areas that can be improved.”
This report card also measured Financial Data. The Canfield Local School District spends 70 % of its funds on classroom instruction. This amounts to a cost per pupil expenditure of $9,102. The state average is $9,721. Only two districts spend similar dollar figures per pupil and perform at or better than Canfield. Geordan says, “This is important to note because we are achieving spectacular results while also being good stewards of our money.”
Geordan says, “The State Report Card is only one avenue to measure a school district. I assure you that we will continue to look at how we can improve on the Report Card and other measures to guarantee the most positive experience for our youngsters. It is a great time to be a Cardinal!”
