This year, we will embrace the theme "Positively Canfield," and I couldn't be more optimistic about continuing our momentum in 2023-2024. As we transition back to school, let’s reflect on the remarkable achievements we celebrated last year and look ahead to the possibilities awaiting us in the coming months.
With many notable achievements, Canfield Local Schools had a successful 2022-2023 school year. The district was incredibly proud to celebrate Canfield High School's Division III State Football Championship, Canfield Village Middle School's designation as a U.S. Department of Education National Blue Ribbon School, and the selection of both Canfield High School and Canfield Middle School as Purple Star Schools by the Ohio Department of Education. The district's Canfield Education Innovation Fund also grew significantly last year, providing grants to staff members for creative and innovative activities that benefit our students.
Over the last year, the diligent work of our community Facilities Committee has led to the development of a comprehensive master plan for our facilities. Responding to the concerns voiced by our community, this plan outlines a visionary path forward, including a new middle school, a new consolidated elementary school and renovations to Canfield High School. This plan will be presented as a bond issue on the November 7th, 2023 ballot.
Looking forward, I want to encourage our students, staff and community members to build upon the foundation of our past successes and continue to create an environment where each student thrives, each teacher inspires, and each parent partners in their child's educational journey.
