Canfield senior wrestler, Tyler Stein, has verbally committed to continue his academic and wrestling career in college at the Ohio State University. Please plan to join us on Wednesday November 14, 2018 at noon in the Canfield High School Athletic foyer as he signs his National Letter of Intent.
Stein enters his senior campaign as a returning OHSAA Division II state champion, and is currently ranked at the top of his weight class in Ohio for the upcoming season. Tyler is also ranked as the #11 wrestler in the country at the 200 lb weight class by the wrestling publication Flowrestling.
Stein has also competed on the national stage earning multiple All-American honors including placement at the USA Wrestling Cadet World Team Trials, National High School Coaches Association tournament, and Flonationals.
As team captain, Tyler has helped lead the Canfield wrestling team to three consecutive OHSAA Division II state runner-up finishes, back to back district team championships, as well as two consecutive Eastern Ohio Wrestling League tournament championships. In addition to his accolades on the mat, Tyler is a multi year starter and team captain for the football team which has gone 19-1 over the past two regular seasons.
The Ohio State Buckeyes are a NCAA Division I program and are a member of the Big Ten Conference. They are led by head coach Tom Ryan and are returning NCAA team runners-up. They have consistently produced NCAA individual champions and All-americans under Ryan and bring in one of the most highly touted recruiting classes for next season.
