Canfield Student is the Franklin B. Walter Scholarship Winner 

Max Lee

Max Lee, a senior at Canfield High School, was awarded the Franklin B. Walter Scholarship in Mahoning County.  The $500 scholarship is awarded to a high school senior from each county in Ohio that has shown outstanding academic achievement through grades, test scores, involvement in activities and awards. He will be recognized at the 28th Annual Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Awards Program in Columbus, Ohio in April.

Lee will be attending Stanford University in the fall to major in Public Policy. During high school, Lee founded and directed a nonprofit organization, MyGateway Prep (mygatewayprep.com) which provides free ACT tutoring to students in Mahoning County as well as multiple other states including NY, VA, and Washington DC. Lee says, “We have raised thousands of dollars in donations and have over 40 student employees.” His extracurricular activities include tennis, Debate, Academic Challenge, NHS, Leo's Club, Student Council, and Student Class President. He’s a volunteer at Akron Children's Hospital, Shepherd of the Valley, and Angels for Animals.
