The Canfield Local School District will join more than 700 school districts throughout Ohio to celebrate January as School Board Recognition Month. The month celebrates board members as well as builds awareness and understanding of the vital function an elected board of education member plays in our society.
“Our school board members are citizen-servants” Superintendent Joe Knoll said. Serving as a link between the community and classroom, school board members are elected to establish the policies that provide the framework for public schools. School board members contribute their time and talents toward the advancement of public education. They represent a continuing commitment to local citizen control and decision- making in education.
“Celebrating School Board Recognition Month is one way to say thanks for all they do” Knoll said. “Even though we are making a special effort during January to show appreciation to our school board members, we recognize their contributions reflect a year-round commitment on their part.”
The dedicated individuals serving Canfield Schools are: Nader Atway, Matt Campbell, Traci DeCapua, Robert Smallwood and David Wilkeson.
