There will be a letter-of-intent signing ceremony for CHS senior tennis player Emily Hofsess held in the school’s athletic foyer at noon on Thursday, December 22, 2016. She will continue her academic and athletic career at Notre Dame College.
While at Canfield, Emily has been a mainstay of a girls’ tennis program that has enjoyed an impressive degree of success, winning conference championships each of the past four years. Teams she played on recorded an overall 74 – 8 win / loss record and a 19-2 mark this past season as she earned four varsity letters and was a team co-captain as a senior. Her high level of play garnered her second and first team all-conference honors as a junior and senior, respectively, the past two seasons while qualifying for the Division I Northeast Ohio District tournament this past season.
In addition to her athletic achievements, Emily was active in the school’s Drama Club, a member of the National Honor Society, a Student Council participant, president of the school’s One Octave choir, active in the school’s English Festival and a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Her high school coach was Robert Stephens. Her private coach is Susan Cianciola. She is the daughter of Edward and Kelly Hofsess.
